What rocks YOUR socks?
Personally I love to listen to music when I write. It helps me write so much. I mean I can't really write without it, well I can but I would rather not. I know this is rather different for many, but for me I love music. So here is my playlist.

-Rocks out-
ReplyDeleteI can't listen to music with words while I write. I get too tangled up in the lyrics and realize that I've been transcribing the words of the song instead of the words of my story. Heh. So I listen to soundtracks...
My favorite to write to are:
Hans Zimmer's Angels and Demons, Sherlock Holmes
John Williams' Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Maurice Jarre's Witness
Some assorted stuff from Nicholas Hooper, Vivaldi, and Beethoven. =D
But I love to listen to other stuff while brainstorming--nothing beats Coldplay for that!
I listen to CDs. I put them on automatic recycle (there's a technical term for it, but I don't know it) and the music is just there in the background. I hear the first couple songs, then they disappear.
ReplyDeleteThe music? Everything from Fats Domino, Dire Straits, Joan Baez, Bach, Celtic, and Tuvvan throat music. "Listen" to some soundtracks too.
Alyson: Never tried listening to soundtracks. I should give it a shot though. I actually listen to stuff while brainstorming too and lots of times when I am reading, lol. Silence is my enemy but it does depend on what I am reading and writing, I prefer mostly rock, alternative, metal and punk though...:D
ReplyDeleteKay: very cool! I actually haven't heard of lots of those bands/artists but I'll check em out :D
I love listening to music as I write! I even make playlists on Itunes for my novels/WIPs. And sometimes when I'm procrastinating I make covers for them in Photoshop and everything.
ReplyDeleteThough I do have to change the song for the scene I'm writing. No happy songs during death scenes or anything like that xD
Bronwyn - Same here except I skip out on the covers. I wish I had the time, that would be very cool! Yeah I also change the songs for the scene yet I never find myself writing to very happy music.
